you must tune in. Or the grimace will get you.

DJ Grimace -
Apparently Baltimore is the Boston of the relative south. I saw many a flat brimmed cap and a metalcore shirt last night, including a Red Sox hat. That said, Ruiner et al. were amazing.
the real reason for this post:
I'm thinking of changing my DJ name. I mean, I love the Grimace and I feel like I've really created an identity as DJ Grimace. On the other hand, I really want to represent either (1) the Dopefish or (2) Commander Keen.
let's take a look at these characters...
Hopefully you can tell which one is which.
The Dopefish is a character from one of the Commander Keen dos games he eats a lot, and his favorite things to eat are heroes. His thought patterns are simply "swim, swim, hungry. swim, swim, hungry" etc.
Commander Keen is an 8 year old genius and the star of a series of pc platform games from the early '90s in which he saved earth and other planets by being really cool for an 8 year old and having a ray gun and a space ship that he built in his garage.
here's some original dopefish art by your beloved DJ Grimace. It may look like I'm copping one DJ Crispy Morton's MS Paint style, but really I only did the color in paint (and magix photo clinic) because I couldn't find colored pencils or markers.
In case you couldn't tell, I've had it with the goddamn penguin movies.

oh the humanity!
Sad news. DJ Crispy Morton will not be with us for the entire show tonight. He has an 8:30 exam the next morning. Sexual Chocolate and I, DJ Grimace, will carry on without him for the later part of our show. DJ Crispy Morton will be missed, especially on this, our last show of the year.
While I'm doing a post, I might as well wrap up things up for the school year. I'm going home tomorrow morning, DJ Crispy Morton and Sexual Chocolate will be leaving later this week. We got off to a very rocky start, only DJ Crispy Morton had even an idea of how to run the board. I like to think that we've really come quite a way since then. We've really settled into a way of doing things that is familiar but certainly not routine and always ridiculously fun. DJ Crispy Morton and I are members elect of the WMFO executive board and we're really looking forward to making radio a major part of our college experiences and making WMFO even more awesome than it already is. Maybe we'll even get mic 3 fixed.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank anyone who ever listened to our show or read this blog. The opportunity to do a radio show playing whatever we want means the world to us, and to have people who listen and enjoy it makes it all a hundred times better. Thank you so much! And of course, who could forget, a big shout out to Pizza Days is in order for always delivering at one am.
The show will be off the air, but I'll be posting blogs this summer when I feel like it. I hope Sexual Chocolate and DJ Crispy Morton will as well.
Thanks again for listening and reading! I hope everyone listens again in the fall.

won't be long 'till summer comes, now that The Boys are here again
For the last The Boys Are Back In Town broadcast of the semester. Yes, summer is almost upon us and this coming Monday morning at midnight (5/7) we will be doing our last show until the fall. Don't worry, The Boys© will be coming back to town for our sophomore year, with two full fledged WMFO executive board members to boot. Get psyched and prepare for the ultimate broadcast of the year. I doubt any song will need an introduction. And tune in to the 11 o'clock show before ours. If Amanda doesn't come in you'll get a sweet surprise scratch session from The Boys©. If she does, you'll get to here some sick tunes because she does a sweet show.
Word.
p.s. That picture came up as the second result of a Google image search for "summer vacation". Get into it.

yo yo yo!
This is the first post in a while I guess so we've got several shows to cover. Last night's show was an awesome return after DJ Grimace held down the fort alone (well accompanied by Katie the Mute) last week. The week before that we did our second '90s show. We enjoyed monsoon rains and DJ Grimace had to run back to his room to get another cd because his got fucked up in on the way to the studio and only played the first song (our theme, conviently). Following his return, the Boys had a little '90s dance party to the Spin Doctors, Hanson, and Coolio. The week before that, (so three weeks ago I guess) we did a fun show with our dedicated listener Caroline Pugsley (DJ Grimaces g/f lol) in the studio.
As for last night, we did a three hour show starting at 11, just goofing off and scratching spoken word over Sexual Chocolate's new Jacko "Thriller" LP (50 cents at Goodwill). Also, we got four calls. So thanks to Emily and Olivia and Allison for calling in. And I guess thanks to DJ Grimace's dad too, even if he did just call to be annoying. That's what dad's are all about. Scratching the WMFO sign on/off guy on CDJ was glorious as well. Go to WMFO.org and listen to the show before us (The G Word) to hear our surprise early appearance.
here's the playlist from last night
and here's the one from last week
thanks for listening everyone...
stay tuned for more freeform and... take care.

we're chiller than most
As usual it's DJ Grimace. Thanks to Shana for sitting in for both George and Andrew again! The show went very well this weekend after the computer disaster that in my memory dominated the first half hour or so. The building was locked so we had to get TUPD to give us a key to get in and in the process the officer (not a cop, because he was nice) noticed that I'm on the list of approved WMFO people but not on the list for card access, so he volunteered to talk to the people in charge of that. We got up to the station and found the microphones working and we got the show going on time. I had trouble playing songs off my computer, first from the sound board, then from the computer. For a while the problem was that the volume was all the way down on my computer for some reason, then the computer decided it would only play songs when it wasn't on air. Eventually, possibly due to a Shana magic touch, it started working and everything was excellent from then on. We're still Mental and we're chiller than most.

everything falls apart and more
So DJ Crispy Morton and I (DJ Grimace) were planning on subbing for Shana and Meredith of Sandcastle Plots and Plans (the name makes no sense, I know) on friday afternoon from 1-2 and then for the guy after them from 2-4. We arrived at the station to find the transmitter, as well as the monitors off. It took about half an hour just to be sure that we were broadcasting and get the monitors running so we could hear everything that went out on the air. We managed to play the "WMFO freeform rejoins the airwaves" jaunt and a Black Eyes Song before more problems arose. I tried to play "Hate Me Now" by Mental off my laptop, but iTunes wasn't cooperating. I restarted the program and the song played, but the laptop wasn't plugged into the soundboard. Then the piece of equipment (I have no idea what it is) that the laptop plugs into wasn't on. So we turned it on and played the song (we tried and failed to play the song once for each problem I've listed here). With about 10 seconds left, the two o'clock guy showed up to do his show, and we left after only playing two songs and the "our transmitter is located atop Ballou hall" guy. It could have been fun, and actually it kind of was, but it didn't really work out. Oh well, we got to watch most of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom later. It turns out the kid who played Short Round ("this is Mr. uhm... Round" "that's Short Round") was in the Goonies and is now a successful stunt coordinator. We'll discuss this more on the air on our next show, probably on Monday March 26th if everyone is back and not too exhausted from traveling to do the show.

something in the way
Yo, it's Bobby. Yeah so a lot of shit went wrong with last weeks show. Between Andrew and I still not having card access, the microphones not working, and the cd players playing the wrong songs we had enough problems. But yeah to listen to the beginning of our show you have to actually download the podcast for the show in the timeslot before us and listen to the last half of it. I don't know how it ended up getting recorded in that spot.

3/5 news and beyond
Bobby will be out of town, visiting his sister in Princeton, NJ, next Sunday night. Maybe he'll call in and introduce a few songs long distance. Expect a sweet '90s two hour attack the week after when he's back. Listen to hear your how the '80s bands we played this week sounded in the '90s, if they survived the turn of the decade.

2/19 show
Last night's show went well despite technical problems (by which I mean me screwing up and/or not knowing how to do things). Shana did a great job helping me and running the board. Mose is amazingly awesome for helping us out and hanging with us. We couldn't have done the show without him. Alana is great for hanging out too. Thanks to Ricky for calling in a great request and thanks to Andrew for calling to say hi. George where were you?

Second Show (Feb 12th)
Our next show is coming up on monday morning february 12th. Don't miss it. Bobby will be at the Lifetime show in Boston sunday night, so he may be joining us late. Get psyched.
Our first show is complete
We hosted our first show last monday, February 4th. It was I guess a little amateurish and really inside-jokey, but we had a lot of fun. We're going to mix our three individual playlists together from now on to try to build a more cohesive show.
